Zoe McNamee (Y9) writes about St Patrick's day and what it means to her
I’m Zoë, I’m from Newry, Northern Ireland. I like to celebrate St Patrick’s Day because I am Irish and it’s a really fun festive holiday. The parades are great. There is loads of music, performing on floats and loads of people get dressed up! There are also dozens of events taking place.

Saint
Patrick's Day, or the Feast
of Saint Patrick (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig,
"the Day of the Festival of Patrick"), is a cultural and religious
celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint
Patrick (c. AD 385–461), the foremost patron
saint of Ireland.
The first St Patrick’s Day parade was in 1737.
The Manchester
Irish parade is being held on Sunday 13th March and starts at the Irish
World Heritage Centre at 11:30. The parade will be going through Manchester
city centre. Listen out for it, or look out for it!
