First tapas night (Photos): Tortilla de patatas!!!

A big "gracias" to all those who came on Monday to cook the delicious tortilla. It was fun to cook with you all and with Spanish music in the background too. We can't forget the salt next time!!! It was delicious anyway though ;)

Personal baggage

Time goes by so fast. It seems like only yesterday that we all were unpacking our stuff and wondering what to expect from the new term and suddenly we realise that it’s time to pack again. And then you notice that there are more things to take home than those that you first brought. It always happens (even if most of your socks have mysteriously disappeared and you can barely match them). There are now new clothes and new books and maybe that funny mug you got, but also there are many other things that you will take home: new experiences, new memories, new friends (some of whom will be old friends one day). Those are now a part of your baggage, of your personal baggage.

As I said, it’s time to pack again and not only winter clothes, worn soles shoes and lonely socks, but mostly that. So listen to me: start packing ASAP, don’t leave everything for the last minute, the rooms must be completely cleared out before you leave them.

And when you’re packing, leave some space for my affection and best wishes for your holidays and on. I will never forget this fantastic first year at Chetham’s. It’s been a pleasure to meet you all.

MRS MARTÍNEZ

P.S.: Come on!!! Pack!!!

Girls' House Kitchen Collective

Girls' House Kitchen Collective has had a great year full of popcorn, chocolate brownies, fudge, M&M cookies, cakes, muffins, many, many batches of ANZAC biscuits and to finish the year... pancakes! (So far, Zoe McNamee's flipping skills are unmatched.) Monday nights are perhaps not the healthiest ones in Girls' House, but we like to think that a little bit of sugar goes some way towards promoting camaraderie, strong mental health, and resilience at the start of each week. Or something like that. Thank you to everyone who has participated enthusiastically in our activities throughout the year. I look forward to sharing more adventures and misadventures in the kitchen with you (and hopefully some new recruits too) after the summer holidays.

Have a wonderful break!
